Dingbat Salad

Recipe By :
Serving Size : Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Volume 12-10 Sep 2009

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
3 cups lettuce -- chopped fine
1 pound bacon -- fried and crumbled
1 bunch asparagus spears -- steamed al dente
1/2 cup red bell pepper -- finely chopped
1/2 cup celery -- diced
1/2 cup red onion -- diced
1 box frozen green peas -- about 10 ounces, thawed
1 cup cheddar cheese -- grated
1/2 cup carrots -- shredded
1 cup mushrooms -- sliced (optional)
2 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

You will need a large sealable container (such as Tupperware).

Spread the lettuce over the bottom of the container. Layer the bacon,
cheese and the other vegetables on top of the lettuce in whatever order you
like.

Mix sugar, salt, and mayonnaise together in a separate bowl. Spread over
the top of the salad, sealing it completely. Cover container and
refrigerate for 24 hours.

Mix before serving.

Note:
This recipe came from a friend of ours in the 1970s whose CB handle was
"Dingbat." Made by Doris and Candice on September 7, 2009
